How to Stay Consistent When the Days Get Dark

On Sunday, November 1, the clocks fall back and the sun starts leaving work early. Your motivation is already drafting its resignation letter. Here's how to stay consistent anyway.

You know the pattern. October-you had plans. Then November arrives with its 5 PM sunsets, and suddenly the couch develops a gravitational pull no playlist can overcome. "I'll start fresh in January," you tell yourself — which is the fitness equivalent of "the check is in the mail."

January-you is going to be furious at November-you. Let's not do that to her.

Motivation is weather. Booking is climate.

It's not a willpower problem. It's a design problem. In November, every workout requires a decision — and decisions are exactly what a tired brain at 5 PM cannot make. Dark plus cold plus tired equals couch. Every time.

So stop trying to win the decision. Remove it.

Every Sunday, open the schedule and book your classes for the week. Two minimum, three if you're feeling spicy. Then treat those bookings like flights — you wouldn't no-show a flight because you felt cozy.

We're open every day of the year except Christmas. And inside our walls, it's always the same: heated to 90 degrees with humidity, teachers cueing your breath with your movement. For 60 minutes, the dark outside doesn't exist.

Your move

Don't wait for January. Book this week's classes right now — while the intention is hot. Future-you is counting on present-you.

See you in the 90-degree room. The sun may clock out early. You don't have to.
